US Masters 2010

Augusta National Golf Club is the perennial home of The Masters, Professional Golf's Fourth Major Championship, but probably the most coveted of all Trophies. The Green Jacket winner receives a lifetime exemption to compete every year.

THE BIRTH OF THE MASTERS. Wanting to give something back to the sport they loved legend Bobby Jones and Wall Street investor Clifford Roberts agreed to create an annual tournament beginning in 1934. Roberts suggested that the event be called the Masters Tournament, but Jones objected, thinking it too pretentious. At first, the name of the event was the Augusta National Invitation Tournament. The title was used until 1939, when Jones finally gave in and the name was offically changed.

Considered among golf lovers world-wide as the Ultimate Destination because it is the only Major to play the same course annually - The US Open, The British Open and The PGA Championship rotate their location each year. Also, Augusta National is an extremely private golf club, adding to its mystique. Similar to other older established and conservative clubs Augusta National Golf Club's policies restrict uninvited guest play, and again, this fuels the desire to attend of the world's golfing masses.

Each golf hole is named after a Southern bloom and the course, which is closed for 4 months each year, is so meticulously maintained that it becomes a visual explosion of colour, times specifically to blossom during The Masters.

The Masters is NOT about watching golf on television from your home - it is the Mecca of those enlightened and lucky among us who live for the back nine on the weekend - it's being part of the surging gallery, reacting excitedly to unbelievable shot-making and putts on greens that are considered the fastest and toughest in golf.

Attending this event is in the highest demand, not only by the Major US Corporations, but by Australian golfing enthusiasts.
